SUMMARY

Leading company in the engineering, rail, mining, and industrial manufacturing sectors, is looking for an experienced Business Development Executive to identify new business opportunities, grow key accounts, and drive sales across South Africa and Africa.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Business Development & Sales Identify and develop new business opportunities within the rail, mining, industrial and engineering sectors. Generate qualified leads through cold calling, networking, referrals and market research. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers. Conduct client visits, product presentations and technical sales meetings. Prepare quotations, proposals and tender submissions. Negotiate commercial agreements and close sales opportunities. Promote the full range of Surtees Railway Supplies and Engineering products and services. Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and upcoming projects to identify new opportunities. Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM database. Achieve monthly and annual sales targets. Customer & Account Management Manage customer enquiries and provide professional after-sales support. Expedite customer orders and liaise with internal teams to ensure successful delivery. Maintain regular customer contact to identify additional business opportunities. Monitor customer portals for RFQs, tenders and purchase orders. Reporting & Administration Submit weekly sales activity reports and pipeline updates. Prepare monthly travel and expense reports. Assist with outstanding account collections when required. Ensure accurate sales documentation and records. Compliance Adhere to company Health & Safety policies. Comply with customer site safety requirements. Follow company procedures and management directives. Minimum Requirements Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business or Engineering (preferred). 5 years or more Business Development or Technical Sales experience. Experience selling into the Rail, Mining, Engineering or Industrial sectors. Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Experience preparing quotations and tender documentation. CRM proficiency and good Microsoft Office skills. Valid driver''s licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout South Africa and Africa. Self-motivated with a proven ability to achieve sales targets. Preferred Experience Rail industry experience. Export sales experience within Sub-Saharan Africa. Knowledge of engineering products and technical sales. Understanding of African procurement processes and commercial contracts.
