Vendor Onboarding and Vendor Management Specialist – Africa & Middle-East

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Vendor Onboarding and Vendor Management Specialist to manage the complete vendor lifecycle, and ensure all vendors are rigorously pre-qualified, onboarded efficiently in Ariba, actively performance-managed, and compliant with all Barrick ethical, legal and commercial standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end vendor onboarding process in SAP Ariba from initial request through pre-qualification, documentation, risk assessments, system setup and approval.
  • Conduct vendor due diligence, ensure the correct risk classification, financial health checks, HSSE capability assessments, anti-corruption screening and local content verification.
  • Maintain onboarding SLAs ensuring new vendors are onboarded within agreed timeframes without creating procurement delays.
  • Develop and maintain vendor scorecards for all strategic and preferred suppliers, delivery, quality, responsiveness and commercial compliance.
  • Facilitate quarterly supplier performance reviews, producing scorecards, managing meetings and tracking corrective actions.
  • Identify underperforming suppliers and manage performance improvement plans
  • Maintain a preferred-supplier list per category, supporting the China sourcing standardisation panel.
  • Maintain the Barrick AME vendor master in SAP Ariba accuracy, completeness and duplication control.
  • Ensure all active vendors maintain current compliance documentation, and manage vendor exit and deregistration including transition out of TCL/Afrilog legacy arrangements.
  • Manage the recertification process to be done annually for all high-risk vendors and every 3 years for low risk vendors
  • Develop a monthly report that outlines low risk vendors to be changed to high risk and redo certification and risk assessments to be screened by the compliance team

Qualification Requirements

Degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, or Business

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • 5+ years in vendor management, procurement or supplier development roles.

    • Strong proficiency in the SAP Ariba supplier management module.

    • Knowledge of anti-corruption compliance vendor due diligence processes.

    • Experience in African procurement environments and local content regulations advantageous.

    • Vendor risk assessment and due diligence skills.

    • Strong attention to detail in maintaining vendor master data and ensuring documentation completeness.

    • Analytical and reporting skills – Competence in preparing vendor reports, tracking SLAs, analysing risk trends, and presenting insights to management.

    • Ability to resolve onboarding delays, documentation gaps, supplier non-compliance, and escalation issues effectively.
