Qetello Holdings is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and analytical Logistics Controller to join their operations team on a permanent basis.

This role is responsible for overseeing and optimising logistics operations to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry regulations. The successful candidate will play a key role in logistics planning, inventory control, supply chain optimisation, cost management, and operational performance monitoring.

Duties & Responsibilities

Logistics Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies, plans, and operational procedures to optimise transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
  • Coordinate logistics operations with internal departments and external service providers.
  • Ensure alignment between logistics activities and organisational objectives.
  • Monitor operational workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Cost Management & Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor and analyse transportation, warehousing, and inventory-related costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate operational expenditure and recommend strategies to improve profitability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining cost-effective logistics solutions.

Inventory Management

  • Oversee inventory control processes and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor stock levels and inventory movements to minimise shortages and excess stock.
  • Implement inventory management best practices and controls.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Supply Chain Optimisation

  • Evaluate supply chain performance and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor supplier and service provider performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, transport providers, and internal stakeholders to improve supply chain reliability.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing lead times and improving order fulfilment.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, customs requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Stay informed of legislative and regulatory changes affecting logistics operations.
  • Identify potential operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions to business operations.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to logistics operations.
  • Analyse operational data and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Generate regular operational and management reports.
  • Track performance against operational objectives and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Technology & Systems Management

  • Utilise logistics technology platforms, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and inventory management software.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of logistics technology solutions.
  • Improve operational visibility and decision-making through effective use of technology and reporting tools.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and support logistics personnel to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
  • Foster a collaborative and continuous improvement culture within the logistics team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all areas of the logistics function.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in logistics management, supply chain operations, or a similar role.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of logistics regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, and technology-based logistics solutions.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
