Perishable Supervisor

An established retail business is seeking an experienced Perishable Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of its Perishable Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the department is well-stocked, clean, compliant, attractively merchandised, and operating efficiently, while supporting sales, profitability, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising the daily operations of the Perishable Department

Ensuring the department is clean, organised, fully stocked, and well-presented

Maintaining high merchandising standards and promotional displays

Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and replenishing stock

Receiving and inspecting deliveries for quality, quantity, and accuracy

Applying FIFO stock rotation principles

Reducing waste, shrinkage, and stock losses

Maintaining food safety, hygiene, temperature logs, and compliance records

Ensuring products are correctly labelled and dated

Delivering excellent customer service and resolving customer queries professionally

Supervising, motivating, and supporting department employees

Allocating daily duties and monitoring staff performance

Supporting departmental sales targets, gross profit margins, and promotional execution

Maintaining health and safety standards within the department

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent

Minimum 2–3 years’ retail experience within a Perishable Department

Supervisory experience in a similar role.
