Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Senior Accountant / Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function across a growing multi-entity business.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, can operate both strategically and operationally, and is confident in managing complexity across multiple entities.
The role offers direct exposure to executive decision-making and a clear pathway into senior financial leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
Full ownership of financial records across all entities within the group
Preparation and review of monthly management accounts (accurate, timely, and insightful)
Consolidation of multi-entity financials
Variance analysis and performance reporting against budgets
Maintenance of general ledger integrity and reconciliations
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
Develop and manage annual budgets across all entities
Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario analysis
Full responsibility for cash flow planning and management
Monitor liquidity, working capital, and funding requirements
Provide proactive financial insights to support business growth
3. Statutory Compliance (South Africa)
Ensure full compliance with
VAT submissions and reconciliations
PAYE and payroll-related compliance
SARS requirements and submissions
Maintain audit-ready records at all times
Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and financial regulations
4. Audit & External Reporting
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors
Prepare audit files, schedules, and supporting documentation
Ensure smooth and efficient audit processes
Address audit queries and implement recommendations
5. Financial Controls & Systems
Design, implement, and strengthen internal controls
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Improve financial systems, processes, and reporting structures
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and scalability of financial data
6. Team Leadership & Development
Lead and manage the finance team
Allocate responsibilities and ensure accountability
Train, mentor, and develop junior staff
Establish clear KPIs and performance standards
7. Commercial & Strategic Support
Provide financial insights to leadership to support decision-making
Analyse profitability across divisions (manufacturing, retail, property)
Support pricing strategies, cost optimisation, and margin improvement
Assist with business expansion, investments, and strategic initiatives
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
BCom Accounting or equivalent (essential)
SAICA Articles (advantageous)
CA(SA) (advantageous but not essential)
Experience
3–5+ years’ experience in a similar role
Experience within an SME or multi-entity environment is highly preferred
Exposure to manufacturing, retail, or property sectors advantageous
Systems & Technical Skills
Experience with accounting systems such as Sage, Pastel, or similar
Strong Excel skills (reporting, analysis, modelling)
Understanding of financial systems integration and process optimisation
