Job Purpose
To provide strategic Human Resources leadership and partnership to the operation by ensuring the implementation of the Group People Strategy, and that people practices are effectively supported.
The role is accountable for leading the full Human Resources function at the operation and serves as the principal Human Resources advisor to the General Manager and operational leadership team. The incumbent will ensure the consistent application of Group Human Resources policies, standards and governance frameworks while fostering employee and union relationships, building organisational capability and enabling sustainable business performance.
Roles and Responsibilities

Partner with the General Manager and Operational Leadership Team to align people initiatives with business objectives, providing strategic HR advice and insights on organisational effectiveness, talent, employee relations, legislative compliance, people-related risks and workforce analytics to enhance productivity and business performance
Implement and embed the Group People Strategy, HR frameworks, policies and standards across the operation
Promote a high-performance culture through effective implementation of recruitment, performance management and succession planning initiatives
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with recognised trade unions and employee representative structures, promoting sound employee relations while leading consultation, collective bargaining and wage negotiations
Provide strategic guidance on disciplinary, grievance, incapacity, poor performance and dispute resolution processes
Lead organisational restructuring initiatives, including Section 189 consultation processes, Section 197 transfers and other legislative change processes where applicable
Represent the company and prepare witnesses/bundles of evidence at the CCMA, Bargaining Council, Labour Court and/or other dispute resolution forums where necessary and as required
Drive the Company's IDEAL (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equality, Advancement and Local) Framework, promoting an inclusive, diverse and respectful workplace culture through leadership accountability, employee engagement and behavioural change initiatives
Responsible for Employment Equity targets, workforce representation and succession pipelines aligned to the transformation commitments
Lead workforce planning, talent acquisition and retention strategies to ensure the operation has the capability required to meet current and future business needs, while supporting Employment Equity and critical skills requirements
Monitor workforce metrics, organisational design and restructuring initiatives, including vacancies, turnover and talent trends, and provide management with workforce insights and reports to support informed decision-making
Drive the implementation of performance management, talent identification and leadership development processes, while supporting leaders to enhance employee performance and effective people management practices
Drive employee engagement, organisational culture and employee wellbeing initiatives to enhance employee experience and organisational performance
Manage HR resources and budgets to ensure the efficient delivery of HR services while driving continuous improvement and standardisation of HR processes
Lead the implementation of the site's Learning and Development strategy, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, legislative competency standards, mandatory legal appointments, and the effective delivery of mandatory, technical, leadership, bursary and learnership development programmes
Oversee the governance of the HRD Training Centre and ensure compliance with Skills Development legislation, including the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), Annual Training Report (ATR), and all related training compliance requirements
Ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation, Company policies, governance standards and POPIA requirements, while maintaining accurate HR records, documentation and statutory reporting
Drive HR governance through effective risk management, internal and external audit readiness, implementation of corrective actions, and the promotion of ethical conduct in line with the Company's Code of Conduct and Speaking Openly framework
Qualifications and Experience

NQF 7 in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
A Postgraduate Qualification in Employee /Labour Relations Management / Labour Law and a Business Qualification is an added advantage
Minimum of 10 Years’ experience in Human Resources of which at least 5 years at Management level
Computer literacy (MS-Office, Email and Internet) and report writing
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, at all levels of the organisation
Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Extensive experience within mining, heavy industry or manufacturing
Proven experience leading Human Resources within a highly unionised environment
Knowledge of and experience in organisational change initiatives
Experience in supporting collective bargaining and wage negotiations
Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation and employment practices
Experience working with senior leadership teams
