Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has strong reconciliation, reporting, and financial administration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and maintain daily financial transactions accurately.
- Update and reconcile daily sales, cash-ups, deposits, and bank transactions.
- Investigate and resolve cash-up variances.
- Manage debtors, collections, and account reconciliations.
- Process and reconcile Medical Aid claims and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Manage creditors and supplier payments within agreed payment terms.
- Process transactions on Pastel and maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist with branch procurement, stock orders, and consumables.
- Maintain accounting records and filing systems.
- Manage stock reconciliations, GRNs, petty cash, and the Fixed Asset Register.
- Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and monthly management accounts.
- Prepare VAT returns and support month-end procedures, including debtor and creditor reconciliations, cash counts, and stock verification.
- Assist with quarterly stock takes and investigate variances.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Work with the pharmacy management system to extract and compile reports where required.
- Provide general financial and administrative support as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Relevant certifications such as SAIPA or part-qualified ACCA will be advantageous.
- 3–5 years' accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience working on Pastel 50c, Sage 200 Evolution, and other accounting software.
- Excellent reconciliation, organisational, and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
