Personal Tax Manager (UK Tax experience required)

We are looking for a Tax Manager - Private Clients to join our Sumer Offshore Services team, part of the Sumer Group, working in a hybrid model based at the 123 Consulting office in Johannesburg. The position would suit a motivated, dynamic individual with experience in UK private client taxation.

Key Responsibilities

The role would include:

• Supporting various UK hubs with private client tax matters
• Working on private client tax advisory projects
• Writing reports, preparing technical analysis and involving specialists within the team, where appropriate, to prepare or review tax advice.
• Managing a portfolio of clients
• Working on tax compliance relating to the client portfolio, including work on annual tax returns and associated tax advice to clients
• Identify and resolve technical issues, or escalate as appropriate

Examples of work you would assist the team with include:

• Capital gains tax advice and planning in relation to the sale of a business
• Advice on the latest IHT rules affecting pensions or business and agricultural assets
• Implementing new company structures for investment companies or family businesses
• Assisting in the preparation in the of complex tax calculations and returns
• Dealing with the advice in relation to trust and 10-year charges

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Proven experience working within Private Client Tax.
• Must have UK Tax experience
• Strong knowledge of inheritance tax, capital gains tax, trusts, and estate planning.
• Experience managing both advisory and compliance work for high-net-worth individuals, families, and trusts.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Holds a relevant professional qualification
