Automation Technician to support the programming, commissioning, maintenance, and optimisation of automated machinery and production lines. This role is ideal for a hands-on automation professional with strong

Siemens PLC programming experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex control systems, improving machine performance, and delivering innovative automation solutions.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimise Siemens PLC control systems Commission, test, and support automated machinery and production lines Diagnose and resolve faults on PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VSDs, and industrial communication networks Support the installation, integration, and commissioning of new automation systems Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and controls teams during machine build and commissioning Perform preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities to maximise equipment reliability and performance Maintain PLC backups, technical documentation, and system modifications Ensure automation systems comply with customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements Skills & Experience Minimum 3-5 years' experience in industrial automation, machinery, production lines, or systems integration Strong experience programming and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal and/or Step 7 Experience with Siemens HMIs, industrial drives, servo systems, Profinet, Profibus, and other industrial communication networks Proven experience commissioning and fault-finding automated machinery and production equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Qualifications Trade Test (Electrician, Millwright, or Instrumentation), National Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field Siemens PLC programming certification or TIA Portal training is advantageous Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for commissioning and customer support Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
