SUMMARY

The Project Manager – Concentrator is responsible for the overall planning, execution and successful delivery of the Concentrator Plant within the approved scope, budget, schedule, quality and safety objectives.

The role provides leadership across all phases of the project, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness, ensuring integration between all disciplines while managing project risks, stakeholders and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes.

POSITION INFO

The Project Manager - Concentrator shall report directly to the General Manager: Capital Projects and will work closely with the Project Office, Engineering Consultants, Construction Managers, Commissioning Team, Operations personnel, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of the Concentrator Project while providing regular progress updates, project performance reporting and strategic recommendations to the General Manager: Capital Projects. The role will also ensure effective coordination across all project disciplines to achieve the approved project scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety objectives. The position shall be primarily based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, South Africa, with frequent travel to the Platinum Project site in Zimbabwe to support engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities. During critical construction and commissioning phases, the incumbent will be required to spend extended periods on site to ensure the successful delivery of the Concentrator Plant. Travel requirements will vary depending on project milestones and operational requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Chemical or Mining Engineering. Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) will be advantageous. Professional registration with ECSA or an equivalent professional body will be highly advantageous. Valid passport and ability to travel internationally. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum 15 years of mining project experience. Minimum 5+ years in project management roles. Proven experience delivering large concentrator or mineral processing plant projects. Extensive EPCM project delivery experience. Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong construction, commissioning and operational readiness experience. Experience managing projects exceeding US$100 million will be advantageous. Platinum group metals (PGM) processing experience will be highly advantageous. Experience working in Africa and remote project environments will be advantageous. Develop and implement project execution strategies. Ensure delivery against approved scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives. Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams. Drive accountability across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams. Ensure alignment with the overall Karo Platinum Project strategy. Engineering Management Coordinate all engineering disciplines throughout project execution. Review engineering progress and critical deliverables. Manage engineering interfaces and technical risks. Resolve multidisciplinary engineering issues. Ensure engineering deliverables support construction and commissioning schedules. Procurement & Contract Management Oversee procurement activities for long-lead and critical equipment. Manage EPCM consultants, contractors and suppliers. Review procurement progress and expediting activities. Manage contract performance, variations and commercial risks. Participate in vendor evaluations and major technical reviews. Construction Management Oversee construction planning and execution. Monitor contractor performance, productivity and quality. Ensure compliance with project specifications and construction standards. Resolve construction-related issues affecting schedule or cost. Coordinate construction interfaces across all disciplines. Commissioning & Operational Readiness Lead commissioning planning and execution. Ensure mechanical completion and system handovers are achieved. Coordinate integrated commissioning across all plant systems. Support operational readiness, training and handover to operations. Ensure all commissioning objectives are achieved safely and efficiently. Project Controls Monitor project schedule, cost, progress and performance. Review project forecasts and reporting. Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans. Manage change control processes. Monitor project KPIs and reporting requirements. Stakeholder Management Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide regular progress updates to executive management. Coordinate activities between consultants, contractors and operations. Facilitate project review meetings and decision-making forums. Safety, Quality & Compliance Champion a strong safety culture. Ensure compliance with company standards, statutory requirements and project procedures. Promote quality management throughout the project lifecycle. Support incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. DELIVERABLES The Project Manager - Concentrator may be required to prepare, review and approve: Project Execution Plans Project Schedules Cost Reports and Forecasts Monthly Progress Reports Risk Registers Project Dashboards Procurement Status Reports Construction Progress Reports Commissioning Plans Operational Readiness Plans Change Control Documentation Contractor Performance Reports Handover Documentation Lessons Learned Reports Executive Steering Committee Reports EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS Primary work location: Bryanston, Johannesburg, South Africa. Extensive travel to the Platinum Project site in Zimbabwe will be required. Employment type: Fixed-term contract. Remuneration: R220,000 per month Cost to Company (CTC). Travel, accommodation and approved site-related expenses incurred during project travel will be covered in accordance with company policy. The successful candidate shall be responsible for complying with all applicable taxation requirements in their country of residence. Payments may be subject to applicable statutory deductions, including Zimbabwean withholding tax requirements, currently understood to be 5%, in accordance with prevailing legislation and any applicable double taxation agreements. The Company reserves the right to make any mandatory statutory deductions required by law. CONTRACT DURATION This position is offered on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing on a mutually agreed date (option to extend). The contract may be extended based on: Project requirements and progression. Individual performance. Continued support requirements during construction, commissioning and operational readiness phases. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of the Concentrator Project through all stages of project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness.
