Role Overview

PolytechAfrica is looking for an experienced and qualified Mechatronics Lecturer to support the delivery of high-quality technical training in mechatronics, electrical automation, robotics, industrial control systems, and related technologies.

The successful candidate will play an important role in preparing learners for careers in modern industry by combining theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on training.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechatronics Lecturer will be responsible for:

  • Delivering practical and theoretical training in mechatronics, electrical automation, control systems, robotics, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and related technical subjects.
  • Preparing and facilitating lessons, practical demonstrations, assessments, learner activities, and training materials.
  • Supporting learners in developing technical competence, troubleshooting ability, and practical industry-ready skills.
  • Managing workshop and lab environments, including PPE compliance, equipment control, and safety procedures.
  • Ensuring all training is aligned with curriculum requirements, quality standards, and occupational training outcomes.
  • Monitoring learner progress and providing support, guidance, and feedback where required.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records, attendance registers, assessment documentation, and evidence of training.
  • Supporting online, part-time, or after-hours training when required.
  • Assisting with campus activities, industry training, and practical learner development initiatives where needed.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A relevant degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Automation, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching and/or industry experience.
  • Experience working in or managing a workshop, lab, or practical training environment.
  • Strong understanding of PPE compliance, equipment control, and safety procedures.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Willingness to work after hours when required, provide online or part-time training, and travel if needed.
