Our client in the Bulk Materials Handing Equipment industry is seeking a Drawing Office Manager to join them in Randburg, Gauteng. The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role within an industrial or materials handling environment.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for

• Leading and managing the Mechanical Drawing Office responsible for the design, detailing, modelling and production of engineering documentation for all projects undertaken
• Ensure that engineering drawings and three-dimensional models are technically accurate, fully coordinated across all engineering disciplines and issued in accordance with project schedules to support procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities.
• Serve as the primary coordination point between Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Structural Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing and Site Construction teams to ensure that all engineering deliverables are fully integrated and constructible.

Minimum qualifications and experience

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, or related field with a recognised Mechanical Draughting qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role within an industrial or materials handling environment.
• Proven experience managing a drafting/design team.
• Advanced proficiency in Solid Edge and Inventor.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials selection, and manufacturing practices.
• Extensive knowledge of plant layout design, pipework, structural steelwork, platework, equipment integration and multidisciplinary model coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and mechanical schematics.
