Food & Beverage Manager – Graskop, Mpumalanga

A prestigious luxury hotel in Graskop, Mpumalanga, is seeking an experienced and driven Food & Beverage Manager to lead and manage all food and beverage operations. This exciting management opportunity is ideal for a hospitality professional who is passionate about service excellence, financial performance, team leadership, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Food & Beverage Department as a fully functioning business unit, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, compliance, and outstanding service delivery. Working within a luxury hospitality environment, the Food & Beverage Manager will oversee restaurant, bar, conferencing, banqueting, stock control, budgeting, staff development, and guest satisfaction while maintaining the highest hospitality standards.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and extensive experience within a 4-star or 5-star hotel or lodge environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams, driving revenue growth, implementing procedures, controlling costs, and maintaining exceptional operational standards.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a remote hospitality environment and possess the ability to build strong relationships with guests, staff, agents, suppliers, and industry stakeholders. A passion for mentoring and developing employees, combined with a proactive and guest-centric approach, will be essential for success.

Key Responsibilities

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Manage all Food & Beverage operations within budget and company standards.
  • Lead, recruit, train, mentor, and appraise F&B team members.
  • Develop and implement Food & Beverage procedures and SOPs.
  • Monitor food costs, stock levels, profit margins, and financial performance.
  • Establish and manage department budgets and financial goals.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, receiving, and equipment control.
  • Develop and implement marketing initiatives, promotions, and events.
  • Create and manage staff shift schedules.
  • Oversee conference and banqueting operations.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and company standards.
  • Handle guest feedback, enquiries, and complaints professionally.
  • Produce weekly and monthly operational reports.
  • Establish and monitor departmental KPIs and performance targets.
  • Drive exceptional guest experiences and service excellence.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric certificate.
  • 3–5 years’ experience managing a fully operational F&B department in a 4-star or 5-star hotel or lodge.
  • Minimum 10 years’ hospitality industry experience.
  • Strong financial and business management skills.
  • Advanced understanding of food cost controls and profit margins.
  • Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
  • Banqueting and conferencing experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Ability to manage a department as a profit centre.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid RSA ID.
  • Valid RSA Driver’s Licence.
  • Stable employment history with a proven track record.
  • Ability to work in a remote location.

Systems Experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel).
  • Opera PMS.
  • Symphony POS.
  • Apex/Nebula systems.
  • PlusPoint systems.
