Internship Opportunity – GET.transform

Position: Intern – GET.transform

Reports To: Project Manager / Policy Advisor

Duty Station: Maseru, Lesotho

Duration: 6 Months

Overview

GET.transform is offering an internship opportunity to support the advancement of energy transformation in Lesotho.

The intern will be based at the GIZ Offices in Maseru and will gain practical experience through exposure to GET.transform’s day-to-day operations. The role includes supporting programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, and administrative functions.

Background

GET.transform is a technical assistance programme that supports public sector partners in advancing energy sector transformation. It focuses on:

  • Energy planning
  • Renewable energy grid integration
  • On-grid and off-grid regulation and markets

The programme operates globally, with a strong focus on Africa and Latin America, and is part of the Global Energy Transformation Programme (GET.pro), supported by the European Union and multiple international partners.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will support the programme in the following areas:

  • Assist with the implementation of GET.transform activities in Lesotho
  • Support the organisation of workshops aimed at strengthening stakeholders’ capacity in energy policy reforms, modelling, and planning
  • Provide administrative support, including timeline management, agenda preparation, and progress tracking
  • Assist in procurement processes, communication with suppliers, GIZ offices, and international counterparts
  • Support travel arrangements and logistics coordination
  • Assist in reviewing consultancy reports and developing Terms of Reference (ToRs)
  • Provide communication and visibility support for programme activities
  • Support the development and maintenance of a photo database by organising visual materials and coordinating with stakeholders for documentation purposes

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree completed; preferably currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field
  • Experience (internships, projects, or coursework) in energy, renewable energy, climate policy, or economic development
  • Familiarity with power sector dynamics or public-private dialogue processes is an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint) and ICT applications
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and international development
