Position Details
Job Title: Librarian
Grade: G
Responsible To: Senior Librarian / Relevant Supervisor
Job Summary
The Librarian is responsible for managing library services, ensuring effective access to information resources, maintaining library collections, and supporting teaching and learning through quality information services.
Key Duties
- Manage and organise library resources and collections.
- Assist users in accessing library materials and information resources.
- Develop and maintain cataloguing and classification systems.
- Maintain accurate records of library materials.
- Assist in acquisition and processing of new library resources.
- Monitor borrowing and returning of library materials.
- Provide guidance to learners and staff on library usage.
- Prepare library reports and statistics.
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of library resources.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Relevant experience in library management or information services.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of library systems and procedures.
- Information management skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Organisational and record-keeping skills.
