Position Details
Job Title: Trainee Programmer
Grade: E
Number of Positions: One (1)
Responsible To: Program Analyst
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Program Analyst, the incumbent is responsible for providing ICT technical support and maintaining information technology infrastructure across the Ministry of Education and Training.
Key Duties
- Assist all MoET districts and Headquarters users with ICT technical support.
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to MoET specifications.
- Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices for MoET users.
- Ensure proper functionality of all MoET ICT infrastructure.
- Upgrade all MoET workstations to the latest available software.
- Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimise performance for all MoET offices.
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems for all MoET staff.
- Provide orientation and guidance to MoET staff on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
- Organise and schedule upgrades and maintenance without disrupting users’ work.
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems on all MoET ICT equipment.
- Maintain records and logs of all MoET infrastructure.
- Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Information Technology (IT) plus 2 years’ relevant experience
OR
- Certificate in Information Technology plus 4 years’ relevant experience
