Job Purpose

Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery and equipment. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment, and the ability to support planned and breakdown maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise plant efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and service production machinery and equipment within the Pies & Pastries Plant.
  • Conduct planned and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Attend to mechanical and electrical breakdowns quickly and efficiently.
  • Perform fault finding on bakery and pastry production equipment, including related factory services.
  • Ensure all machinery operates safely, effectively, and according to production requirements.
  • Complete job cards, work orders, and maintenance records accurately.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximise machine uptime and plant efficiency.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and maintenance-related projects.
  • Supervise or guide handyman where required.
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping in the maintenance and production areas.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety, GMP, food safety, and quality standards at all times.
  • Participate in after-hours call-outs or standby duties when required

Qualification Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Trade Tested qualification required, preferably Millwright
  • N6 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PLC equipment, drives, automation, and electrical fault finding
  • Knowledge of production processes and maintenance practices, including scheduled, predictive, and preventative maintenance.
  • Have Refrigeration or Ammonia plant experience
  • Knowledge of FSSC 22000 and food safety standards
