SUMMARY

Performs moderate design tasks, project documents related to the application of mechanical engineering capability on Naval systems. To plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical engineering tasks related to the inspection, repair, replacement, and testing of submarine mechanical systems during a refit, ensuring compliance with naval or Marine standards and operational readiness.

• A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering,
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience (naval industry considered an asset);
• 3+ years of submarine specific experience;
• Experience in design and maintenance of platform marine systems such as diesel engines, propulsion systems, heating, ventilation, high pressure pneumatics, hydraulics and air conditioning systems, chilled water-cooling systems.
• Experience providing professional oversight and mentorship within a technical team.

POSITION INFO

Report directly to Site Project contribute to the successful delivery of technical deliverables within the submarine refit project. Prepare and approved deviations and waivers for submarine mechanical equipment; Provide mentoring, professional oversight and on-job-training for a team of engineers and technologists; Assess, document, and communicate risks associated with submarine engineering systems to both internal and external customers; Be responsive to Project Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a dockyard; Identify risks, impacts, mitigations, and opportunities. Management obsolete parts and spares. Compile engineering deliverables in accordance with technical requirements for review and sign off. Ensure compliance with naval standards and classification society requirements. Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and dockyard teams. Provide technical support with management of suppliers and contractors for spares and services. Monitor quality control/s and adherence to safety protocols Testing & Commissioning Ensure any special tools are designed and captured as per standard engineering principles.
