SUMMARY

A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced

Design Draughtsman to join its engineering team in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a technically strong draughting professional who is passionate about design and detailing and enjoys developing accurate 2D drawings and 3D models. The successful candidate will focus on producing high-quality engineering drawings and models while collaborating closely with engineers and project teams to support the successful delivery of projects.

This opportunity is best suited to someone who wishes to build a long-term career in design draughting, rather than progressing into an engineering or management role.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings and detailed fabrication drawings. Develop and maintain 3D models using relevant CAD software. Prepare layouts, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation. Update and revise drawings in accordance with engineering changes and project requirements. Ensure all drawings comply with company drafting standards and applicable industry standards. Work closely with engineers and project teams to resolve design queries. Maintain drawing registers and document control procedures. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into final drawings. Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency across all design deliverables. Minimum Requirements BTech qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering design draughting. Proven experience in both 2D drafting and 3D modelling . Strong aptitude for technical drawing and engineering design. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 2D/3D design packages). Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Preferred Experience Experience within manufacturing, mining, heavy engineering, or industrial environments. Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and fabrication processes. Exposure to product design, mechanical assemblies, or plant equipment.
