Position Details
Job Title: Inspector (Qacha’s Nek & Mohale’s Hoek)
Grade: H
Number of Positions: Two (2)
Responsible To: District Education Manager
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the District Education Manager, the incumbent is responsible for undertaking inspection of schools to ensure compliance with education policies and laws, contributing to curriculum development, and facilitating capacity building for teachers. The position supports school management.
Key Duties
Inspection of Education Establishments and Performance
- Collect and disseminate information on education policies, laws, standards, management, administration, teaching, and learning.
- Inspect schools regarding management, teaching and learning, financial management, facilities, equipment, and learner welfare.
- Set performance standards.
- Assess teaching and learning effectiveness and develop improvement plans where required.
- Provide professional advice on establishment and expansion of schools.
- Prepare quarterly and annual inspection reports.
- Advise the Ministry on teacher supply forecasting, facilities, and teaching materials.
- Analyse examination performance and prepare improvement recommendations.
Curriculum Development and Teacher Support
- Contribute to curriculum development and education policies.
- Identify needs for teaching and learning materials.
- Collaborate in development and administration of assessment procedures.
- Identify staff development needs.
- Support pre-service and in-service teacher training.
- Contribute to budget preparation and management of inspectorate allocations.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education plus three (3) years’ experience in a leadership or management role or five (5) years’ experience as a senior teacher.
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education plus five (5) years’ experience in a leadership or management role or seven (7) years’ experience as a senior teacher.
