Position Details

Job Title: Policy Analyst

Grade: G

Responsible To: Senior Officer/Relevant Supervisor

Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for conducting policy research, reviewing policies, analysing education sector issues, and providing recommendations to improve management, teaching, and learning systems.

Key Duties

Policy Development and Review

  • Conduct research and analysis on education policies.
  • Identify policy gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Draft policies to promote consistency in addressing education sector issues.
  • Facilitate approval and dissemination of policies.

Monitoring Policy Implementation

  • Follow up with education institutions to assess compliance with national policies.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of policies and identify gaps.
  • Provide findings and recommendations to management.

Innovation in Education Management Systems

  • Identify new trends and opportunities in education management, teaching, and learning.
  • Facilitate development of policy manuals promoting best practices.
  • Advise management on innovation goals.
  • Present innovative ideas and monitor implementation.

Section Management

  • Facilitate work planning and development of operational plans.
  • Assist in development of individual work plans.
  • Identify resource needs and contribute to budget preparation.
  • Monitor implementation of sectional budgets.
  • Prepare performance reports.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education or Education Management and Leadership plus three (3) years’ experience in policy development.

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Education Management and Leadership plus five (5) years’ experience in policy development.
