Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled, creative, and strategic
Data Products Manager who shares our passion for evangelism and wants to join our dynamic team in Cape Town, South Africa. This role is responsible for ensuring that CV’s data products are high-value: actionable, agent-consumable, and scalable to bring data insights to life, enabling CV’s teams, initiatives, and leadership to make informed decisions using data. As CV’s AI programme scales, the Data Products Manager is on the critical path: the certified, AI-ready data products the AI Strategy depends on flow through this role.
Leading a team of data analysts and BI developers, and working in partnership with the Data Operations Manager, the Data Products Manager acts as a senior business analyst interfacing with all parts of the organisation. They own the data products roadmap for solving business questions, and manage the user delivery platforms and tools to ensure that teams across CV, and trusted partners, are empowered and equipped to maximize value from data products leveraging data as a strategic asset for insight generation, decision-making and missional learning.
Specific Responsibilities
- In coordination with the Data Operations Manager, define and manage the full lifecycle and roadmap of certified data products — including datasets, semantic models, dashboards, data stories, AI-enabled features, business glossaries, catalogues, and analytics apps — ensuring each product is documented, versioned, and specified to an agent-consumable standard so it is ready for both human and AI consumers.
- Translate diverse business requirements into clear product specifications and manage the intake, backlog refinement, and prioritisation of reporting and analytics requests.
- Line Manage Data Analysts and BI Developers in the Data and Insight Team, setting objectives, coordinating workload, and fostering strong delivery capability and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ensure cohesive collaboration between the Analyst team, Data Operations, and other Technology functions to enable smooth data flow, system interoperability, and shared accountability.
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality dashboards, reports, and visual insights in tools ensuring they are well-documented, performant, and aligned to user needs.
- Partner with Data Operations, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity teams to maintain and optimise data product environments for secure, efficient access and reliable performance.
- Embed key dashboards, insights, and triggers into stakeholder workflows, supporting their integration into daily decision cycles and organisational rhythms, and providing documentation and training to support adoption and maximisation of value.
- Develop and implement a data communications and literacy strategy, in collaboration with CV’s communications team, to make data resources, catalogues, and knowledge bases accessible, visible, and well-understood.
- Champion data-informed culture across CV by deploying enablement resources, providing tailored guidance to non-technical users, and modelling excellence in data storytelling and interpretation.
- Track adoption, performance, and impact of data products, establishing metrics and feedback loops to drive iterative improvement and demonstrate business value.
- Act as a strategic business analyst and cross-functional connector, partnering with Mission, Governance, and other Functions to ensure analytics solutions are aligned with CV’s strategic goals and empower self-service, AI-ready insight across the organisation.
- As part of a global organisation, you will be required to collaborate across time zones, which may involve out-of-hours availability.
General Responsibilities
Fulfil all duties outlined above for this specific role, and as directed below for all team members within CV. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Contribute positively to our team culture by upholding CV’s values in attitude and action.
- Comply with all CV policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all matters.
- Engage fully in staff and team meetings, collaboration, and communication.

- Strong data analysis skills using tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, etc. Solid experience in the use of AI tools and agents for analytics and insight generation is required; a successful candidate must be able to apply the “AI proposes, humans decide” principle in analytical workflows, specify which quality tier (Trusted, Certified, or Provisional) applies to each AI-assisted output, and identify where human review is non-negotiable.
