Position Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter with strong technical expertise in motor traders risk, policy structuring, and coverage application. The role focuses on analysing complex risk profiles, interpreting loss history, and ensuring policies align with underwriting mandates, reinsurance treaties, and company appetite. The ideal candidate is solutions‑driven, confident in policy wordings, and able to build strong relationships with brokers and internal teams while delivering innovative, client‑focused underwriting outcomes. --- Minimum Requirements Experience 5+ years’ experience in commercial underwriting (senior level). Qualifications Fit & Proper to operate as a Short‑Term Insurance Commercial Lines Representative in terms of the FAIS Act, including but not limited to: Matric Full FAIS RE5 Class of Business CPD points up to date --- Key Competencies Strong understanding of commercial product offerings and policy wordings Ability to underwrite policies according to client needs and available coverage Relationship‑driven approach with brokers and colleagues Solution‑orientated mindset with a focus on delivering customised underwriting outcomes --- Core Responsibilities Risk Assessment & Underwriting Evaluate and underwrite motor traders risks Analyse client loss history and apply appropriate remedial actions Ensure risks fall within company appetite and underwriting mandates Apply reinsurance treaty requirements accurately Manage annual renewals and policy endorsements Facultative Reinsurance Facilitate and place facultative reinsurance where required Sasria Apply correct Sasria coupon codes Use Sasria rates calculator and apply magnitude discounts where applicable Broker Communication Communicate promptly and professionally with intermediaries Handle policy queries and provide accurate technical guidance Systems & Administration Operate essential underwriting and policy administration systems effectively --- Ready to Advance Your Underwriting Career?
