SUMMARY
A Client of ours is looking for an Excavator Operator in the Brits area to safely and efficiently operate excavators in a mining environment to excavate, load, move, and stockpile ore, waste rock, and other materials while complying with all mine safety regulations, production targets, and environmental standards.
POSITION INFO
Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Valid Excavator Operator Certificate from an accredited training provider. Valid Driver's Licence (advantageous). Medical certificate declaring fitness to work in a mining environment. Competent A or B (where required by legislation or company policy). Experience Minimum of 3 years' experience operating excavators in an open-pit or underground mining environment. Experience loading articulated dump trucks or rigid dump trucks. Experience working in production mining. Experience operating large hydraulic excavators (preferred). Key Responsibilities Operate hydraulic excavators of various sizes safely and efficiently. Excavate, load, and move ore, waste, and overburden according to the mine plan. Load haul trucks accurately to maximize productivity and minimize spillage. Perform pre-start inspections and complete daily equipment checklists. Report mechanical defects, breakdowns, and unsafe conditions immediately. Conduct routine cleaning and basic maintenance of the excavator. Follow production schedules and supervisor instructions. Work safely around haul trucks, dozers, graders, and other heavy equipment. Maintain awareness of ground conditions, high walls, benches, and exclusion zones. Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety regulations and company procedures. Minimize equipment wear by operating machinery correctly. Complete production, inspection, and shift reports accurately. Assist during blasting preparations and follow all blast clearance procedures. Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions. Maintain good housekeeping around work areas.
