HVAC Technician (Internal & External) – VRV/VRF / DX – Cape Town

POSITION INFO

Purpose of the Position The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting refrigeration and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety and compliance with quality standards. The role includes electrical wiring, testing and customer support across a wide range of commercial HVAC equipment. Key Responsibilities: Install, commission, maintain and repair VRV/VRF systems, DX AC units, DX air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, evaporative cooling systems, humidifiers and de-humidifiers. Perform wiring, electrical connections and commissioning. Carry out piping installation, brazing, flaring and insulation. Install cable trays, cable trunking and accessories. Diagnose and troubleshoot faults. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and manuals. Perform preventative maintenance and testing. Maintain service records. Comply with health and safety requirements. Provide technical customer support. Work with technicians, engineers and project managers. Keep up to date with industry developments. Qualifications, Experience and Skills required: N6 and Trade Test in Refrigeration/HVAC/Electrical. Valid refrigeration licence and electrical certification advantageous. HIRA and Legal Liability (compulsory). Minimum 8 years post Trade Test experience with VRV/VRF, DX systems, chillers (Trane, Carrier, CIAT or York), humidifiers and de-humidifiers. General Competencies: Piping, brazing, flaring and insulation expertise. Cable tray and trunking installation. Strong refrigeration, HVAC and electrical knowledge. Diagnostic and testing equipment proficiency. Ability to interpret technical drawings. Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Flexibility to work overtime, evenings and weekends when required. Salary offer: R24K TCTC
