SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the general maintenance team, ensuring that all facility maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
POSITION INFO
Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team. Allocate work to maintenance personnel and monitor progress. Supervise artisans and maintenance staff including: Carpenters Bricklayers Plumbers Grass Cutters / Grounds Maintenance Staff General Maintenance Personnel Conduct routine inspections of buildings, infrastructure and surrounding grounds. Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is completed according to schedule. Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain maintenance records and report on completed work. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company procedures. Identify maintenance requirements and escalate major repairs where necessary. Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used correctly and maintained. Train, mentor and support maintenance staff where required. Promote good housekeeping and ensure facilities remain clean, safe and operational. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric). Experience Minimum 5 years experience in facilities or building maintenance. Previous supervisory experience managing maintenance teams. Qualified or experienced in at least one of the following trades: Carpentry Bricklaying Plumbing General Building Maintenance Experience working within a facilities, commercial, industrial or similar maintenance environment. Knowledge & Skills Strong leadership and people management skills. Sound knowledge of general building maintenance. Good planning and organisational skills. Ability to prioritise multiple maintenance activities. Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements. Good communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Basic computer literacy for reporting and record keeping. Personal Attributes Mature and dependable individual. Hands-on approach to maintenance supervision. Strong work ethic. Attention to detail. Team player with good interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure. Honest, reliable and accountable. Advantageous Trade Test or recognised qualification in Carpentry, Plumbing, Bricklaying or a related maintenance trade. Experience supervising multidisciplinary maintenance teams. Valid driver''s licence.
