SUMMARY

A well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Midrand is seeking a skilled

Mechanical Fitter to join its maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal plant reliability and minimal downtime.

Candidates with experience gained in the automotive, heavy vehicle, diesel mechanic, earthmoving equipment, truck, or related mechanical maintenance environments are encouraged to apply.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery. Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical systems. Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repairs. Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings, conveyors, and other rotating equipment. Perform alignment, fitting, and precision measurements using engineering tools. Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals. Conduct routine inspections and identify potential equipment failures. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. Complete maintenance reports and job cards accurately. Work collaboratively with electricians, technicians, and production teams to minimise downtime. Minimum Requirements Trade Tested Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal preferred). 3-5 years' post-trade experience as a Mechanical Fitter. Experience within an automotive, diesel mechanic, truck, heavy vehicle, earthmoving, or similar mechanical maintenance environment . Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments. Valid driver's licence. Willingness to work overtime and respond to breakdowns when required. Preferred Experience Exposure to manufacturing or production plant maintenance. Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics. Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous. Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices. Key Competencies Strong mechanical aptitude. Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
