Job Purpose

To provide efficient administrative and coordination support to the Site and operations Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) function by maintaining compliance records, managing SHE documentation, coordinating training and audits, monitoring safety performance, and supporting incident management processes. The role contributes to the effective implementation of SHE systems and initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation and company requirements while promoting a safe and healthy working environment.

Key Responbilities

  • Provides general administration support to the SHE Department and site operations, including diary management, meeting coordination, and minute taking.
  • Maintain and update SHE policies, procedures and standards electronically, ensuring compliance with company and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor, track and report on SHE compliance, including audits, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate and administer SHE training interventions and campaigns, ensuring staff meet statutory and company training requirements
  • Generate reports and analyze SHE data to support informed business decisions.
  • Report generation and graphical information presentation.
  • Monitor processes (e.g. basic industrial hygiene activities) and compile inspection reports.
  • Participate in team problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide support to internal and external stakeholders regarding SHE information and compliance.
  • Obtain an understanding of the importance of injury investigations and prevention of future incidents.
  • Assist the Site Facilities Manager with any injury investigations and corrective actions.

Qualification Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • A tertiary qualification in Safety Management, Office Administration or related field – NQF4

Experience Requirements

FMCG experience will be advantageous

  • Ability to think analytically, independently, and outside of the box to provide fresh ideas to improve processes.
  • Ability to work with people in a production/plant environment.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 and all the regulations, inclusive of SANS/SABS codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Isometrix, O&TS, P360, or other SHE management systems.
