A leading engineering solutions provider within the mining and mineral processing sector is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team of specialists delivering innovative plant and equipment solutions across Southern Africa.
POSITION INFO
What You'll Be Doing Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems for mining and mineral processing applications. Produce high-quality 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation. Participate in the design of bulk materials handling and mineral processing equipment. Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and design verification activities. Assist with plant layouts, mechanical system integration, and equipment optimization. Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle. Support commissioning activities and provide technical solutions to site-related challenges. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and design methodologies. What We're Looking For BEng Mechanical Engineering degree. Minimum 3 years' post-graduate experience within the mining or mineral processing industry . Proven mechanical design experience in industrial, processing plant, or bulk materials handling environments. Strong CAD design capabilities. Experience with engineering calculations, equipment design, and technical problem-solving. Understanding of manufacturing methods, materials selection, and mechanical engineering principles. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience That Will Set You Apart Mineral processing plant design. Conveyors, chutes, hoppers, tanks, and pumping systems. Bulk materials handling equipment. Mechanical plant layouts and piping systems. Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
