POSITION INFO

Job Overview : Our client is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and draughtsmen, overseeing the design and development of process plant equipment, including piping systems, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and gain valuable experience working with industry design standards and specifications. Key Responsibilities : Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and draughtsmen. Design and oversee the development of mechanical equipment for process plants, including piping systems, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. Manage all phases of mechanical projects, including planning, concept design, detailed design, manufacturing, quality control, installation, commissioning, and handover. Develop and review 3D models and detailed design concepts, including process plant layouts. Interpret and analyse equipment datasheets, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Solve complex engineering challenges using modern analysis and simulation software. Review fabrication packages for pressure equipment and piping systems. Prepare detailed piping and valve specifications. Provide mechanical input for process equipment datasheets. Review and evaluate vendor equipment datasheets and drawings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless design integration across projects. Maintain and apply knowledge of industry-specific design standards, codes, and specifications. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design for process plants. Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary projects. Proficiency in 3D design and engineering software, including Autodesk Inventor and Plant 3D. Experience with piping and pressure vessel design software such as CAEPIPE, CAESAR II, and PV-Elite is highly desirable. Knowledge of pressure equipment and piping design codes, including ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, SANS 347, EN 13480, and EN 13445. Registration as a Professional Engineer (ECSA) or working towards registration is advantageous. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles for process plant equipment.
