We have an exciting opportunity for Control Centre Advisor. The purpose of this role is to provide advisory support to establish, operate, and optimise the transitional Control Centre, ensuring the seamless reintegration and stabilisation of Supply Chain operations.

Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Rosebank, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
As our Control Centre Advisor, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Act as a central point of contact for cross-functional teams, advising on best practices, problem resolution, and process adherence during the transition phase.
- Provide actionable insights to stakeholders (e.g., Supply Chain Transition Specialists, Operations Managers) to mitigate risks and align activities with strategic goals.
- Offer guidance on supply chain processes, systems, and tools to ensure efficient transition and operational effectiveness.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging trends to enhance the transition strategy and control centre operations continually.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and optimising the operational control centre structure to align with the department’s return to operations.
- Support developing workflows, escalation protocols, and real-time monitoring systems for supply chain processes.
- Support developing and continuously improving supply chain control systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements and compliance standards.
- Assist in promptly resolving escalated issues, ensuring minimal impact on supply chain performance.
- Track KPIs (e.g., inventory levels, delivery timelines, cost efficiency) and generate regular progress reports for leadership.
- Identify bottlenecks or deviations in workflows and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain teams to identify training materials and SOPs for new/existing processes.
- Facilitate workshops or briefings to ensure teams understand control centre tools and protocols. Document lessons learned and best practices throughout the transition process to enhance future project implementations
This role is in Supply Chain (SC) department on a Band 6 (D1) level reporting to the Section Manager Logistics.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / N3 Technical
- Higher National diploma in Supply Chain or a related discipline on NQF6
- B-degree in Supply Chain or a related discipline on NQF7 SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
- Working knowledge of supply chain operations, logistics, and control centre environments (typically gained through 3–5 years of experience).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Understanding of project management principles and basic analytical frameworks.
- Knowledge of core supply chain processes such as demand planning, inventory management, and transactional sourcing.
- Awareness of change management principles relevant to transitional projects (preferred).
- Understanding of safety and sustainable supply chain practices (competent level).
- Basic knowledge of contract management and procurement processes.
