Strata Controller (Underground Hard Rock Mining)

We are seeking an experienced Strata Controller to ensure the stability and safety of underground excavations through the effective design, implementation, and monitoring of ground support systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining safe production while driving continuous improvement in ground control standards and rock engineering practices.
- Design, implement, and monitor underground ground support systems.
- Conduct regular underground inspections and geotechnical assessments.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate ground control and rock-related risks.
- Develop, review, and enforce ground support standards and procedures.
- Monitor ground conditions and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with production and mining teams to ensure safe and efficient mining operations.
- Provide technical guidance on challenging ground conditions, including remnant mining, false foot, and other complex geological environments.
- Investigate ground-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), mandatory Codes of Practice, and company standards.
- Mentor and train supervisory and operational personnel on ground support best practices.
- Relevant qualification in Rock Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Strata Controller in an underground hard rock mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Rock mechanics
- Ground support systems and design
- Underground hard rock mining methods
- Geotechnical risk management
- Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Medically fit to work underground.
