Who You Are

You are an experienced Sample Machinist who takes enormous pride in your workmanship.

You understand that the very first sample determines the success of an entire production run. You appreciate that every stitch, seam, measurement and construction method matters.

You do not simply sew garments—you engineer them.

You possess extensive knowledge of premium garment construction, particularly denim, and are comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with designers and pattern makers.

You are meticulous, disciplined and solution-driven. You enjoy solving construction challenges and continuously refining garments until they are production-ready.

Experience within a premium, designer or luxury fashion environment is highly desirable.

Relevant qualifications in Clothing Production, Fashion Technology, Garment Construction or a related discipline will be advantageous, but exceptional skill, experience and craftsmanship will always take precedence.

Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position based within our sample room.

As our Sample Machinist, you will be responsible for transforming concepts, patterns and technical specifications into fully functional, production-ready garment samples of exceptional quality.

You will work closely with our designer and pattern maker throughout the development process, identifying construction improvements, refining fit and ensuring each sample meets Camacho Clothing Company's uncompromising standards before entering production.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Constructing complete garment samples from patterns and technical packs.
• Reading and interpreting technical specifications and garment construction instructions.
• Altering, correcting and refining patterns where required.
• Assisting with pattern grading and maintaining pattern accuracy.
• Cutting, assembling and constructing complete garments.
• Applying professional garment construction techniques including seams, topstitching, hems, facings, linings, waistbands, pockets, collars, cuffs, fly constructions and finishing details.
• Installing zips, buttons, rivets, burrs, hardware and trims with precision.
• Conducting fit corrections and construction improvements.
• Identifying manufacturing challenges before production begins and proposing practical solutions.
• Maintaining accurate pattern records and sample documentation.
• Ensuring every garment meets luxury-quality finishing standards.
• Maintaining an organised, clean and safe working environment.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements.

Mandatory

• Several years (3-5 years) of proven experience as a professional Sample Machinist within the apparel industry.
• Demonstrable experience producing first samples for premium or luxury fashion brands.
• Excellent understanding of garment construction and pattern interpretation.
• Ability to independently construct a complete garment from start to finish without supervision.

Technical Competence (Non-Negotiable)

This is an absolute requirement.

Applicants must demonstrate professional proficiency in operating industrial garment manufacturing equipment.

You must be competent on, but not limited to:

• Industrial Pneumatic Lockstitch Machines
• Industrial Chainstitch Machines (various)
• Industrial Overlock Machine (vintage and new)
• Reece 101 Industrial Buttonhole Machine
• Industrial Bartack Machine
• Industrial Rivet & Burr Press Machine
• Industrial Waistband Machine
• Industrial Pressing Equipment
• Other specialist garment manufacturing machinery relevant to premium apparel production.

Applicants who cannot confidently operate industrial machinery to a professional standard will not be considered.

Craftsmanship (Critical Requirement)

This position demands exceptional craftsmanship.

You must consistently demonstrate:

• Absolute precision in stitching and seam construction.
• Excellent measurement accuracy and garment symmetry.
• Luxury-quality finishing techniques.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Pride in producing flawless work.
• The ability to identify imperfections before anyone else does.

We are looking for someone who notices a 1 mm deviation—and refuses to ignore it.

Additional Skills

• Strong understanding of denim fabrics, garment engineering and premium trims.
• Excellent organisational skills, including pattern archiving, documentation and version control.
• Ability to interpret garment specification sheets, technical packs and construction notes.
• Strong communication skills when working with designers, pattern makers and production teams.
• Excellent planning, prioritisation and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple sample developments simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper maintenance of machinery and equipment.
