Mechanical Engineer

Our steel manufacturing client is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to support engineering and maintenance operations in the Western Cape. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to plant reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement through innovative engineering solutions

Key Responsibilities

Lead mechanical engineering projects from planning through implementation

Improve equipment performance through reliability and maintenance initiatives

Investigate recurring equipment failures and implement sustainable engineering solutions

Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and commissioning activities

Ensure compliance with engineering standards and statutory requirements

Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve operational performance

Maintain engineering documentation and technical specifications

Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Matric

Mechanical Engineering Degree

3 - 5 Years experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and plant operations

Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Knowledge of reliability engineering and continuous improvement principles advantageous

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
