We are looking for a client-facing Data Analytics Consultant with proven experience working directly with clients to design, build and deliver high-quality data and AI solutions that help Dataloop clients make better decisions, improve efficiency and create long-term business value.

This is not a behind-the-scenes role. The successful candidate will take ownership of client engagements from problem definition through to delivery, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact throughout. You will be expected to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels, translate business problems into technical solutions, and communicate complex insights in a clear, commercially relevant way.

MAIN OUTCOMES

  • Deliver robust , production-ready Azure-based data solutions that integrate, clean and structure data effectively.
  • Build clear, useful and decision-ready Power BI models and dashboards for client stakeholders.
  • Translate client needs into practical data and AI solutions that solve real operational and reporting challenges.
  • Support the delivery of AI-powered workflows and solutions as part of Dataloop’s growing AI capability.
  • Own delivery across client engagements with professionalism, accountability and attention to quality.
  • Contribute to a consulting environment that values innovation, intellectual honesty, high standards and getting things done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build Azure data pipelines from source to clean, modelled, production-ready datasets using tools such as SQL, Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop Power BI semantic models and dashboards that provide meaningful insight for executive and operational decision-making.
  • Write clean, efficient and reliable DAX, including time intelligence, row-level security and more advanced measures.
  • Work with structured and messy datasets to consolidate, transform and prepare data for reporting and analytics use.
  • Use AI tools and large language models to improve delivery speed and contribute to AI-powered client solutions.
  • Facilitate client workshops, gather requirements, clarify scope, and translate ambiguous briefs into clear deliverables.
  • Take ownership of delivery from solution design through build, testing, stakeholder feedback and production release.
  • Contribute to the development of Dataloop’s AI practice, including testing, refining and implementing agentic and generative AI solutions.
  • Follow sound engineering practices across Git workflows, documentation, version control and environment promotion.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients by working as an extension of their team and delivering solutions that are accurate, useful and fit for purpose.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1–5 years’ experience in a data-related role, ideally within a consulting or client-facing environment.
  • Strong SQL capability and hands-on experience with Azure data services, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proven experience developing Power BI dashboards, semantic models and dimensional data models.
  • Good understanding of DAX and best practice reporting design.
  • Exposure to using AI tools or LLMs in a practical work context.
  • Ability to take ownership, ask strong questions, and turn broad business problems into tangible solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders professionally.
  • Based in Cape Town and comfortable working in a hybrid model.

Advantageous

  • Experience with Python, Databricks or Spark.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for Power BI, including deployment pipelines, PBIP and semantic model versioning.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-500 or DP-203.
  • Exposure to building or deploying AI solutions using APIs, agents or prompt engineering approaches.
