About iScript Health
iScript Health is South Africa's fastest-growing telehealth platform, connecting patients with HPCSA-registered medical practitioners for virtual consultations across the country. We're building a new model of accessible, patient-centred primary care — one where Clinical Associates play a central role in expanding access to quality healthcare.
We're now recruiting Clinical Associates to join our supervised telehealth network. If you're a BCMP graduate who is passionate about patient care, comfortable on video, and ready to practise at the top of your scope under medical practitioner supervision, we want to hear from you.
The Role
As a Clinical Associate at iScript, you will:
- Conduct virtual consultations with patients across South Africa under the supervision of a registered Medical Practitioner
- Manage your own patient panel — building relationships, following up, and delivering continuity of care
- Perform clinical assessments, take histories, order investigations, and develop management plans within your HPCSA scope of practice
- Work at the top of your licence — you'll be the primary point of clinical contact for your patients, with a supervising MP available for escalation
- Use our AI-assisted EMR to document consults, generate clinical notes, and prescribe (where authorised) — saving you 30–40% of admin time per consult
- Participate in clinical governance — peer review, audit, and continuing professional development
Who You Are
Essential
- BCMP degree from Wits, University of Pretoria, or Walter Sisulu University
- HPCSA registration as a Clinical Associate (current and in good standing)
- Community Service completed (or exemption confirmed)
- Indemnity insurance (or willingness to be covered under our umbrella policy)
- Fluent in English (for clinical documentation and AI-assisted transcription)
- Comfortable conducting consultations via video call — this is a telehealth-first role
- A quiet, private space with reliable internet to consult from
Preferred
- Additional South African languages (isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, etc.)
- 2+ years post-community service experience (qualifies for expanded autonomy under Tier B/C supervision)
- Experience in primary care, chronic disease management, women's health, or mental health
- PCNS registration (for billing under medical aid)
What We're Looking For — Beyond the Qualifications
We screen carefully because patient safety is non-negotiable. Here's what matters to us:
- Patient-centred empathy. You treat every patient like a person, not a number. You listen before you speak.
- Sound clinical judgement. You know when to act, when to wait, and when to escalate to your supervising doctor — and you can explain your reasoning.
- Professional humility. You can disagree with a colleague respectfully and advocate for your patient without ego getting in the way.
- Time discipline. You can deliver a thorough, high-quality consultation in 15 minutes without making the patient feel rushed.
- Commitment to scope. You understand the boundaries of the Clinical Associate role and practise within them — always.
Supervision & Growth
Tier Experience Supervision Level
A< 2 years registered Direct supervision — weekly check-ins, case-by-case review
B 2–4 years registered Indirect supervision — regular case review, on-call escalation
C 5+ years registered Broad supervision — autonomous practice with periodic audit
As you gain experience, your supervision tier is reviewed and your scope of autonomous practice expands.
Compensation
We offer a flexible compensation model:
- Patient-driven — earn per consultation completed, with uncapped earning potential
- Salaried option will be considered after 3 months of work - for those who prefer stability
- Medical aid billing handled by our platform — we manage submissions, claims, and payments so you can focus on clinical care
- Competitive per-consultation rates (R250–R600 depending on consult type and complexity)
What We Provide
- Full telehealth infrastructure — Zoom-integrated video consults, AI-assisted EMR, e-prescriptions, lab ordering
- Practice management — scheduling, billing, medical aid claims, patient communications all handled by the platform
- CPD support — access to clinical education modules, case discussions, and peer learning
- Work from anywhere — all you need is a laptop, internet, and a private space
