QA Engineer

A leading payments technology environment is seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer to join its Stellenbosch-based team. This role is suited to an experienced tester who can ensure high-quality delivery across complex payment platforms while contributing to both manual and automated testing efforts. The role will initially be fully on-site during probation, transitioning to a hybrid arrangement (4 days on-site per week) subject to performance and operational fit.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for new and existing system functionality
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across payment platforms
• Build and maintain automated test suites using JavaScript and modern frameworks (e.g. Playwright)
• Conduct API testing and validate integrations using OpenAPI specifications
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and monitor test stability
• Log, track, and verify defects through resolution using standard tracking tools
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and support teams across the SDLC

Requirements

• 4+ years’ experience in software QA/testing with strong automation exposure
• Proficiency in JavaScript for test automation development
• Experience with API testing tools and frameworks (e.g. Postman or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test design, and SDLC processes
• Experience working with SQL (PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server) for validation
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern development environments
• Experience in financial or transactional systems advantageous
