Commercial Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Commercial to lead the commercial management of a portfolio of capital projects from project initiation through to close-out on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving procurement and commercial strategies, managing the RFQ process, negotiating and administering contracts, and overseeing Service Provider performance to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of capital projects.
  • Develop and implement project sourcing and contracting strategies.
  • Manage the RFQ process, including bid evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards.
  • Administer contracts and oversee contractual change, deviations, early warnings, and defect notices.
  • Monitor Service Provider performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Track project execution changes and prepare commercial reports.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support dispute resolution by gathering and analysing relevant commercial information.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Service Providers and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Engineering, or Law.
  • Minimum 6 years' relevant commercial experience.
  • Proven experience within a capital projects or supply chain environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the RFQ process, contract negotiations, and contract administration.
  • Experience with contract change management and Service Provider performance management.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contract forms will be advantageous.
