Key Tasks
Laboratory Analysis
- Prepare samples for analysis.
- Carry out quality control samples to ensure instruments are performing as required.
- Conduct sample analysis in accordance with established SOPs.
- Troubleshoot, address, and resolve analytical discrepancies.
- Execute assigned projects related to water quality analysis as directed by management.
- Maintain and update reagent stock levels daily and advise on replenishment when reorder levels are reached.
Monitoring
- Perform necessary calculations for standard preparations.
- Conduct quality assessments on reagents to confirm suitability for use.
Calibration and Verification
- Verify instrument performance daily using quality control samples.
- Calibrate instruments that fall outside acceptable ranges and according to the calibration schedule.
- Maintain accurate calibration and verification records.
Data Management
- Accurately record and compute analytical results and data.
- Alert the Manager Water Production to any discrepancies.
Water Production
- Minimize operational losses while maintaining reservoir capacities to meet daily demand.
- Implement precise dosing of process chemicals for process optimization.
Supervision
- Supervise operations of water treatment facilities and ensure high staff performance.
- Contribute to preparation of the annual budget and supervise key projects.
- Conduct regular evaluations of process chemical usage.
- Evaluate performance of plant operators and provide professional development guidance.
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards through ongoing training.
- Ensure laboratory workstations are cleaned and disinfected regularly.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of reagents and chemicals.
Reporting
- Report operational irregularities and monitor chemical availability through weekly assessments.
- Report defective pumps and equipment failures daily.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports for management review.

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Water and Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- At least one year’s experience in a testing laboratory.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- A degree qualification in any of the above disciplines will be considered an advantage.
