We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Consultant to join our growing team and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards across our Short-Term Insurance business. As our Quality Assurance Consultant, you will be responsible for auditing new business policies, sales interactions, underwriting, and policy administration processes to ensure compliance with insurer mandates, legislative requirements, and internal quality standards. You will work closely with Sales, Underwriting, Operations, and Compliance teams to identify improvement opportunities, mitigate risk, and promote a culture of continuous learning and excellence. Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Auditing Conduct quality assurance audits on new business policies to ensure compliance with insurer underwriting guidelines and internal quality standards. Review sales calls to ensure appropriate advice, needs analyses, and customer outcomes have been achieved. Audit policy administration systems to verify the accuracy and completeness of client information and documentation. Review compliance documentation to ensure all legislative disclosures and customer communications have been completed correctly. Conduct audits against Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) and internal operational procedures. Identify quality breaches, compliance risks, and operational gaps, escalating findings and monitoring corrective actions through to completion. Liaise with clients where required to obtain outstanding information needed to finalise quality assurance reviews. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with FAIS, FICA, POPIA, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, and all applicable legislation. Monitor adherence to insurer underwriting requirements and internal operational policies. Identify regulatory risks and recommend practical corrective actions. Support internal and external audit readiness by maintaining complete and accurate documentation. Quality Improvement & Coaching Analyse audit results to identify recurring trends and opportunities for improvement. Deliver constructive feedback and coaching to Sales Consultants and operational teams. Facilitate quality assurance coaching sessions and training workshops. Partner with Sales Managers and business leaders to implement and monitor corrective action plans. Contribute to the enhancement of quality assurance frameworks, audit methodologies, and best practices. Stakeholder Engagement Build strong working relationships across Sales, Operations, Underwriting, Product, and Compliance teams. Participate in meetings to discuss quality trends, regulatory updates, and business improvement initiatives. Provide subject matter expertise on underwriting requirements, quality standards, and compliance matters. Support business improvement projects requiring quality assurance input. Reporting & Administration Maintain accurate quality assurance records and audit documentation. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports highlighting audit outcomes, trends, and recommendations. Analyse quality metrics and escalate areas requiring management intervention. Ensure all reporting is completed accurately and within agreed service levels. Effectively prioritise workloads to meet audit turnaround times. Operational Excellence Maintain exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of the role. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, quality, and customer experience. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and professional standards. Perform additional duties as reasonably required to support business objectives. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. NQF Level 5 qualification or higher. FAIS-recognised qualification meeting Fit and Proper requirements. Registered Representative in terms of the FAIS Act. Class of Business (COB) certification where applicable. CPD requirements maintained in accordance with FSCA regulations. Membership of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA), or progress towards a professional designation, will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 3-5 years' experience within the short-term insurance industry. Proven experience in a Quality Assurance, Compliance, Underwriting, or Policy Administration role. Experience auditing insurance sales, underwriting, and policy administration processes. Strong understanding of Personal Lines insurance products and underwriting principles. Experience working within a regulated financial services environment. Experience using policy administration and CRM systems will be advantageous. Skills & Competencies Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong knowledge of FAIS, FICA, POPIA, TCF, and insurer underwriting requirements. High attention to detail with exceptional accuracy. Strong communication, coaching, and feedback skills. Excellent report writing and data analysis capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Professional, ethical, and solutions-focused approach. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
