Sector: Cold-Chain Logistics, Warehousing & Supply Chain Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town Reporting To: Finance Director The Opportunity 3L Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation operating within the cold-chain logistics, warehousing and supply-chain sector. Based at the organisation’s Head Office in Paarden Eiland, the Finance Manager will take overall responsibility for the Group’s accounting, financial reporting, taxation, statutory compliance, controls, audits, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working capital. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring a strong financial leader who can protect the financial integrity of the Group, improve performance, manage risk and provide meaningful support to the Finance Director and Managing Director. The successful candidate will also lead and develop the finance team and contribute to the Group’s broader financial health, efficiency and growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting and Reporting Take overall responsibility for the full accounting function, including the General Ledger, fixed assets, creditors, debtors, taxation and financial reporting. Ensure that financial reporting complies with applicable International Financial Reporting Standards. Oversee the accurate and timely completion of monthly reconciliations. Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting. Analyse financial results, trends and variances and provide clear financial insight to management. Manage the year-end close process and preparation of Annual Financial Statements for the Group companies. Financial Controls, Governance and Compliance Develop, maintain and implement effective financial internal controls, policies and procedures. Ensure statutory compliance across the Group companies. Manage financial internal audits and coordinate the external audit process, including liaison with auditors. Take responsibility for Group company tax returns, tax reporting and revenue-authority audits. Coordinate annual insurance declarations for the Group companies. Take responsibility for financial information required for B-BBEE reporting. Budgeting, Forecasting and Cash Management Lead the compilation and reporting of budgets and forecasts, including management presentations. Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts and report on material variances. Determine and monitor the Group’s working-capital requirements. Determine and manage the Group’s cash-flow requirements. Identify potential financial risks or pressures and provide timely recommendations to management. Cost, Procurement and Capital Management Manage and control Head Office costs. Identify and implement sustainable cost-saving initiatives that support the Group’s business-development goals and objectives. Oversee the financial aspects of the procurement process. Oversee the capital-expenditure process and ensure that expenditure is appropriately approved, controlled and reported. Leadership and Executive Support Lead, manage and continuously develop the finance team. Promote accuracy, accountability, collaboration and high performance within the finance function. Provide full financial support to the Finance Director and Managing Director. Prepare financial reports, analysis and presentations to support operational and strategic decision-making. Contribute financial insight and guidance in support of the Group’s wider objectives. Minimum Requirements Qualified Chartered Accountant – CA(SA). A minimum of seven years’ experience in financial management positions. Proven ability to manage a full accounting and financial-management function. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, audits and statutory compliance. Strong analytical and forecasting capability. Strong negotiation and leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Sage X3 or a similar ERP or financial-management system. Advantageous Experience Experience in taxation. Experience within cold storage, warehousing, FMCG or a related operational industry. The package is inclusive of provident fund and medical aid benefits. A performance-related bonus may apply, subject to individual and company performance. The bonus is not guaranteed.
