The role is responsible for providing financial planning, forecasting, reporting, analysis, and business partnering support to enable informed decision-making and sustainable value creation. The role partners closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful performance insights, challenge thinking, influence decisions, and identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash generation, and overall business performance.
The incumbent combines strong analytical capability with commercial acumen and stakeholder influence, acting as a trusted advisor to the business. The role requires a proactive and curious individual who can translate data into insights, drive constructive discussions, and support the delivery of strategic and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support annual business planning, monthly forecasting, and performance reporting processes.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identifying key trends, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
- Deliver accurate, insightful reporting and variance analysis to support business decision-making and performance management.
- Partner with business stakeholders to improve profitability, margin delivery, cost management, working capital efficiency, and cash generation.
- Support the evaluation of commercial initiatives, strategic opportunities, investments, and projects through financial analysis, modelling, and business case review and challenge
- Conduct post-investment reviews (PIRs) and project lookbacks to assess performance against approved objectives, identify lessons learned, and improve future decision-making.
- Perform root cause analysis on performance variances and support the development of corrective actions where required.
- Analyse customer, product, channel, terminal, and value chain profitability to identify value creation opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement in planning, forecasting, reporting, data governance, and business performance management processes.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and decision-support aligned to business priorities and leadership requirements.

Professional Qualification and Certifications
- Tertiary Qualification (Bachelors or National Diploma) in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration
- CA (SA) / CIMA qualification
- Financial modelling and/or data analysis certification advantageous
- Experience in the oil & gas industry preferred
Work Experience
- 3+ years’ work experience in a financial or management reporting role.
- Oil and gas, agriculture, mining, supply chain, manufacturing and/or FMCG experience are highly advantageous.
- Exposure to cross‑functional environments and business partnering preferred.
Knowledge and skills
- Strong financial and analytical skills, commercial acumen.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Understanding of commercial business performance and value drivers.
- Understanding of the industry, preferably manufacturing and/or FMCG.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality, insightful analysis and recommendations.
- Business writing and communication (including presentations)
- Experience relevant to this position will be an advantage.
- Ability to produce high quality, insightful analysis and recommendations.
- Ability to work with large data sets and complex variables.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- SAP, SAC and PowerBI knowledge are advantageous.
