Financial Compliance Specialist - Automotive Retail Industry

We are currently looking for a Financial Compliance Specialist based in Sandton, Johannesburg to join our dynamic team.
The Financial Compliance Specialist is an execution-focused, detail-driven compliance professional responsible for carrying the Group's day-to-day regulatory compliance workload, reporting to the Head of Group Legal & Compliance.
Purpose of the role
- Own the operational, day-to-day compliance workload across the Group
- Keep FICA, FSCA and POPIA obligations current at every branch
- Audit dealership deal files for F&I and regulatory compliance
- Support statutory, board-pack and minute-book logistics
You do not own the Group's legal or governance strategy — you execute compliance with discipline, consistency, and accountability, freeing the Head of Group Legal & Compliance to focus on governance, commercial and board-level work.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- FICA / FIC / AML Compliance
- Deal-File Audits
- F&I Competency Logs
- FSCA Showroom-Floor Readiness
- POPIA Operational Support
- Statutory & CIPC Support
- Compliance Calendar Management
FICA / FIC / AML Compliance
- Maintain client due-diligence records across the Group
- Support goAML reporting
- Assist with transaction monitoring across dealerships
Deal-File Audits
- Audit dealership deal files for F&I and regulatory compliance
- Identify and escalate gaps or recurring issues
- Track remediation to completion
F&I Competency Logs
- Track FAIS fit-and-proper status for relevant staff
- Maintain RE5 representative and accreditation records
- Flag lapsing accreditations ahead of deadlines
FSCA Showroom-Floor Readiness
- Keep licence, display and disclosure compliance current at every branch
- Conduct regular showroom-floor compliance checks
POPIA Operational Support
- Maintain POPIA records and the PAIA manual
- Maintain the breach register
- Support the Group's Information Officer on operational matters
Statutory & CIPC Support
- Coordinate and chase statutory filings and registers
- Support board-pack preparation and minute-book logistics
Operating Environment
- Multi-site, multi-brand dealership network
- Reports to the Head of Group Legal & Compliance
- Close working relationship with F&I, finance and dealership management
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven compliance environment
- Regular travel to branches for on-site compliance checks
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law, compliance, finance, BCom or as a paralegal
- RE5 and/or RE1 certification (Highly advantageous)
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years' compliance experience, ideally in motor retail, F&I, or financial services
- Strong working knowledge of FICA, FIC, POPIA and FAIS
- goAML reporting experience advantageous
- Dealership / DMS familiarity advantageous
- Company-secretariat or CGISA-track exposure advantageous

Salary
- R 45000 – R65 000 p/m basic salary including benefits
