SUMMARY

Position Overview

The Spa Therapist is responsible for delivering professional spa and wellness treatments that provide guests with a luxurious, relaxing, and memorable experience. The role requires excellent technical skills, exceptional customer service, and a passion for health, beauty, and wellness while maintaining the highest standards expected in a 5-star game lodge.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Services

  • Welcome guests warmly and conduct professional consultations prior to treatments.
  • Recommend suitable treatments based on guests' needs and preferences.
  • Deliver exceptional, personalised service throughout the guest experience.
  • Ensure guest comfort, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Handle guest enquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Encourage repeat business through outstanding service and relationship building.
  • Promote wellness experiences that complement the safari lodge environment.

Spa Treatments

  • Perform a wide range of professional treatments, including:
    • Full body massages
    • Back, neck and shoulder massages
    • Hot stone massage
    • Aromatherapy treatments
    • Deep tissue massage
    • Swedish massage
    • Reflexology (if qualified)
    • Facials
    • Manicures and pedicures
    • Body exfoliation and wraps
    • Waxing
    • Tinting (where qualified)
  • Ensure treatments are performed according to established protocols and guest preferences.
  • Adapt treatments where appropriate while maintaining safety and professional standards.

Retail Sales

  • Recommend retail skincare and wellness products suited to guests' needs.
  • Meet individual and team retail sales targets.
  • Educate guests on home-care routines and product benefits.
  • Promote spa packages and additional treatments.

Spa Operations

  • Prepare treatment rooms before each appointment.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organised, and welcoming.
  • Maintain all spa equipment and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of towels, linen, and treatment products.
  • Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Hygiene & Health Standards

  • Maintain exceptional hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Sterilise equipment according to health regulations.
  • Replace linen between every guest.
  • Dispose of waste safely and correctly.
  • Follow infection control and health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

Administration

  • Accurately complete treatment consultation forms and guest records.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
  • Process appointments and payments where required.
  • Assist with stock counts and inventory control.
  • Report product shortages to the Spa Manager.

Teamwork

  • Work closely with the Spa Manager and other therapists.
  • Support lodge operations during busy periods where appropriate.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training sessions.
  • Maintain excellent communication with reception and guest services teams.
  • Assist in creating a positive and professional working environment.

POSITION INFO

Minimum Qualifications National or International qualification in Beauty Therapy, Somatology or Spa Therapy. Recognised qualifications such as: ITEC CIDESCO CIBTAC SAAHSP Diploma in Somatology or equivalent First Aid Certificate (advantageous). Experience Required Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Spa Therapist in a luxury spa, hotel, resort, or 5-star game lodge. Experience in performing a wide range of spa and beauty treatments. Retail sales experience within a spa environment. Experience working with premium skincare brands is advantageous. Previous luxury hospitality experience is preferred
