Job Purpose

The CNC Setter & Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to manufacture precision-engineered components according to technical drawings and quality specifications. The successful candidate will ensure efficient production, maintain quality standards, and contribute to a safe and productive manufacturing environment during the night shift.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities: Set up CNC machines for production according to engineering drawings and job specifications. Operate CNC machinery to produce high-quality precision components. Load and unload raw materials and finished products safely. Perform machine adjustments and tool changes to maintain production efficiency. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges. Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure products meet quality standards. Identify machining defects and make necessary adjustments to prevent non-conforming products. Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues or breakdowns. Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in the work area. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Work closely with supervisors and quality personnel to achieve production targets. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric). CNC Setter and Operator experience within a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience using precision measuring equipment. Knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and machine setup. Good understanding of quality control processes. Computer literacy is advantageous. Willingness to work permanent night shift and overtime when required. Skills & Competencies: Strong attention to detail. Good problem-solving and fault-finding abilities. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet production deadlines. Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Working Conditions: Permanent night shift. Manufacturing/production environment. Standing for extended periods and handling materials as required. Overtime may be required to meet operational demands.
