Instruction Compliance Tester

Alpine Business Consulting

About the role

Alpine Business Consulting specializes in fixing enterprise systems that have lost their way. We provide clarity for finance teams who are tired of mismatched numbers and broken reporting tools. While our core work often involves platforms like Oracle or SAP, we are expanding our internal testing efforts to include instruction compliance for AI systems. We apply the same rigorous approach to data integrity here as we do when we configure a multi-million dollar planning system.

As an Instruction Compliance Tester, you will help us ensure that automated systems follow complex rules without deviation. This is a part-time, contract position that is fully remote. You will be tasked with reviewing specific outputs to verify they meet every constraint provided in the original prompt. We value documentation and clear results, so your focus will be on finding where these systems fail to meet the single source of truth we expect from any professional tool.

What you will be doing

Your daily tasks will center on quality control and logical verification. Many systems claim to understand complex instructions, but they often struggle when multiple constraints are layered together. Your job is to catch those mistakes. The work is methodical and requires a high degree of focus on the details that others often miss.

  • Reviewing model responses against a checklist of mandatory instructions to ensure 100 percent compliance.
  • Identifying subtle logic errors where a system might follow the spirit of an instruction but fail on the technical specifics.
  • Testing edge cases by providing instructions that are intentionally difficult or contain conflicting constraints.
  • Documenting failures in a clear, standardized format that our senior consultants can use to refine system configurations.
  • Verifying that formatting requirements, such as specific headers or data structures, are followed exactly as requested.
  • Comparing different versions of a response to determine which one adheres most strictly to the provided guidelines.
  • Assisting with the creation of new test cases based on real-world scenarios our clients face in financial reporting.

What we are looking for

This is an entry-level position. We are not looking for years of professional consulting experience, but we are looking for people who are naturally skeptical and thorough. If you enjoy find errors in a set of instructions or pointing out when a rule has been ignored, you will fit in well here. This role is ideal for students or those looking for a consistent, remote contract that fits around other commitments.

  • Strong reading comprehension and the ability to notice small deviations in text or logic.
  • A clear, direct writing style for documenting bugs or instruction failures.
  • Basic familiarity with how logic works, perhaps from a high school or college-level computer science or philosophy course.
  • The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while staying on task.
  • Reliable access to a computer and a stable internet connection.
  • A preference for structure and clear rules over ambiguity and creative interpretation.
  • Curiosity about how instructions are interpreted by different systems and a desire to learn about data configuration.

What the role offers

Working at Alpine Business Consulting means you are part of a team that prioritizes professional results over corporate fluff. This position offers attractive pay that is competitive for entry-level contract work in this field. Because we are a remote organization, you have the flexibility to manage your own workspace and schedule within the agreed part-time hours.

You will gain exposure to how senior consultants think about system configuration and data integrity. We do not use client projects as a training ground for juniors, but we do provide our internal testers with the documentation and guidance they need to succeed. This is a practical role where you will see the immediate result of your work in the improved performance of the systems we test. We focus on getting the details right the first time, and your contributions are a primary part of making that happen.
