About Our Client The client is a highly respected South African manufacturer of medium-voltage distribution transformers and electrical equipment . The company works on critical power infrastructure projects across Southern Africa, spanning utilities, industrial, and renewable energy sectors . The Role: Electrical Design Engineer - Transformers (MV & LV) The purpose of this role is to collaborate with seasoned industry experts to optimize manufacturing processes, drive engineering excellence, and champion technical innovation . The position focuses on reviewing and preparing precise engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation across utilities, industrial, and renewable energy projects . Key focus areas also include offering technical guidance, conducting technical investigations, ensuring compliance with SANS standards, and supporting diverse projects like transformers, switchgear, generators, and battery storage . Key Responsibilities Lead engineering activities utilizing 3-8 years of experience in manufacturing, electrical manufacturing, medium-voltage power systems, switchgear, industrial electrical projects, or renewable energy . Review and prepare precise engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation . Conduct technical investigations, fault-finding, root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions . Provide technical guidance and mentorship across engineering, manufacturing, quality, project, and technical personnel . Ensure full alignment of all engineering and manufacturing processes with applicable SANS industry standards . Support diverse projects including transformers, switchgear, renewable energy, generators, and battery storage . Collaborate with the procurement team on technical supplier evaluations and equipment selection . Participate in new product development, evaluate emerging technologies, and lead continuous improvement initiatives . About You 3-8 years of experience in manufacturing, electrical manufacturing, medium-voltage power systems, switchgear, industrial electrical projects, or renewable energy . BTech, Advanced Diploma, BEng, or BSc in Electrical Engineering . Proven experience with medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, technical troubleshooting, and practical problem-solving . Solid understanding of relevant SANS transformer and electrical standards . A valid Driver's Licence . Professional registration with ECSA (Advantageous) . Government Certificate of Competency (GCC Factories) (Advantageous) . Hands-on experience with renewable energy projects (Advantageous) . Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) (Advantageous) . Familiarity with fault level calculations, protection systems, and earthing design (Advantageous) .
