SUMMARY
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Division: Golf to lead and grow its Golf Division. This executive leadership role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the division, driving sponsorship revenue, managing key industry relationships, overseeing professional golf tournaments and events, and ensuring the overall profitability and sustainability of the business unit.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with a strong understanding of the golf industry, sponsorship landscape, and sports event management environment.
POSITION INFO
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and implement the divisional business strategy and annual business plan. Drive revenue growth, business development, client retention, and operational excellence. Lead, mentor, and manage senior members of the Golf Division. Present monthly business and performance reports to executive management. Identify market opportunities, industry trends, and strategic growth initiatives. Sponsorship & Commercial Management Identify and develop sponsorship opportunities within the golf sector. Source and secure new sponsorship partnerships and renew existing agreements. Develop and manage sponsorship rights packages. Ensure successful implementation and delivery of sponsor benefits. Drive long-term client retention and relationship management. Golf Event & Tournament Management Oversee the planning and execution of professional golf tournaments and events. Manage co-sanctioned tournaments, Sunshine Tour events, golf days, Pro-Am events, charity golf days, and associated partnerships. Manage tournament budgets, procurement, suppliers, media agencies, and reporting processes. Ensure exceptional event delivery and stakeholder satisfaction. Oversee broadcast, marketing, PR, and sponsorship activation requirements. Financial Management Prepare and manage annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor cash flow and financial performance. Control expenditure and ensure budget adherence. Manage financial reconciliations, reporting, invoices, and purchase orders. Minimum Requirements Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, Events Management, or a related discipline. Proven senior management experience within the golf, sports, sponsorship, events, or related industries. Demonstrated success in sponsorship acquisition, partnership management, and business development. Experience managing large-scale sporting events or tournaments. Strong financial management and budgeting capabilities. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Proven leadership and people management experience. Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills. Willingness to travel extensively and work weekends when required. [ Existing relationships within the South African golf industry. Exposure to organisations such as the Sunshine Tour, PGA, Golf RSA, or similar governing bodies. Strong understanding of golf sponsorships, tournament operations, and stakeholder management. Passion for golf, with playing experience or an in-depth understanding of the game being advantageous.
