Senior Environmental Consultant - Leading Environmental Group – Westlake – Cape Town

One of our esteemed clients, being one of South Africa’s leading environmental consultancies, delivering high-impact Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), ecological studies, environmental management, and sustainability services across the renewable energy, infrastructure, and urban development sectors is expanding their team and seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior Environmental Consultant.

Must be EAPASA registered, not a candidate

Preferably hold a BSc and MSc

Project Leadership & Delivery Oversight

o Overseeing multiple projects and ensuring each has a clear scope,

budget, and delivery timeline.

o Tracking statutory deadlines and ensuring team compliance with no

missed milestones.

o Taking ownership of escalated risks or disputes and resolving them

effectively.

o Ensuring timely, high-quality submissions to authorities, with no last-

minute risks to quality or compliance.

o Supporting the Director in balancing workload allocation across

the EAP team.

• Document Review & Quality Assurance

o Provide final review and sign-off on BARs, Scoping Reports, EIA Reports,

EMPrs, and public participation documents prepared by mid-level EAPs

and interns.

o Ensure that all reports meet internal standards, statutory

requirements, and are “submission-ready.”

o Maintain version control discipline across the team and ensure

submission records are auditable.

o Establish and enforce quality-control procedures across the EIA Division.

• Stakeholder & Authority Engagement

o Leading client relationships on assigned projects, ensuring satisfaction

and professional delivery.

o Managing complex or sensitive stakeholder issues, including dispute

resolution.

o Representing the company at authority meetings, site visits, and public

meetings.

o Providing authoritative advice to clients on statutory requirements and

regulatory interpretation.

• Team Development & Mentoring

o Provide day-to-day guidance, supervision, and mentoring to mid-level

EAPs and interns.

o Allocate tasks within projects to the appropriate level of staff.

o Ensure junior team members are supported in learning statutory

processes, stakeholder management, and report preparation.

o Conduct structured debriefs post-project to capture lessons learned.

• Specialist Coordination & Integration

o Approve scopes of work for specialists and ensure alignment with project

objectives.

o Ensure specialist timelines are coordinated with overall project

schedules.

o Provide oversight on review of specialist inputs to confirm adequacy and

compliance.

o Integrate specialist findings into final deliverables with clear

accountability.

• Research, Compliance & Systems Leadership

o Remain up to date with evolving legislation, guidelines, and case law.

o Provide legal/procedural interpretations to strengthen our

advisory role.

o Ensure project teams maintain compliance checklists throughout project

lifecycles.

o Lead improvements to the company’s SOPs, templates, trackers, and

training materials.

o Actively contribute to the EIA Resource Hub, ensuring it remains current

and practically useful.

Remuneration
