Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Engineering & Projects team. Opportunities are available across Australia and South Africa, supporting mining and metals clients across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies through to detailed engineering and execution.

This role sits within an integrated delivery model, where multidisciplinary consulting expertise leads studies work, with engineering capability extending scope through to Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) level via Project Managers, multi-discipline lead engineers, project controls, and construction management. Reporting to the Director Engineering and Projects, APAC & RSA, you will lead project delivery across all phases, studies, detailed engineering, and execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering strong client relationships and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.

Reporting to the Director Engineering and Projects, APAC & RSA, you will provide project and engineering management leadership across all phases of project delivery from studies and detailed engineering through to execution. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering strong client relationships and leading high-performing project teams.

This role is ideal for a collaborative and commercially minded leader with extensive EPCM and feasibility study experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

Salary

The salary package offered for this position will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Skills And Competencies

Core functions

  • Lead the planning and delivery of large, complex feasibility study, EPCM, and detailed engineering projects for mining and metals clients.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across studies, engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with AFRY's EPCM framework and governance requirements.
  • Establish and maintain project controls, including scheduling, cost management, earned value management and reporting.
  • Monitor project performance, financial outcomes and commercial objectives.
  • Identify, assess and proactively manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and key stakeholders.
  • Support business development activities by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals and promoting AMC's engineering and consulting capabilities.
  • Lead, coach and mentor project teams while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all project activities.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (Master's degree desirable).
  • Approximately 15+ years' experience delivering multidisciplinary engineering, feasibility study, and EPCM projects.
  • Extensive experience within the mining and metals industry.
  • Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams across studies and execution phases.
  • Strong knowledge of project management, engineering management and project controls.
  • Experience with scheduling, cost control, earned value management and risk management.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience supporting business development activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) standards.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
